Quick History on the Old Fashioned.
Before prohibition a guest would sit at the bar and order a cocktail. The barkeep would put a glass with four ingredients in front of the guest. Water ( in the form of ice or water), Bitters, Sweetener ( in the form of a sugar cube or simple syrup) and the Spirit ( usually the whole bottle) and a spoon to swirl it. Than prohibition came around and bars were shutdown and Speakeasys were formed where people could go and secretly get a cocktail. Once prohibition stopped and patrons were once again able to sit a bar, they would ask the barkeep for a cocktail….The Old Fashioned Way.
